Board Meeting
Present: Jody Crowe, Darlene Hendrickson, Judy Sorenson, Mary Barthel, Ray Gildow, Randy Cousins, Nancy Cross, Lee Seipp, Lilah Crowe
There was no set agenda and various items were discussed.
Dave Burgraff offered to have the show on new site development at Kart Country, but board consensus was to put on show again at BNSF site which is available again this year.
City property (the hole) remains in limbo.
Jody approached Rick Cole who agreed to be local contact for project moving to Kart Country. Much discussion then followed as to what future plans are for the show and the organization as Jody informed the board that his one year commitment in Idaho will likely last another 1 – 2 years as he pursues professional opportunities. Board agreed at this time to focus on doing this year’s 10th anniversary show and decide later regarding future planning in light of Jody’s changing status.
Jody developing script for this year’s show to be set in 1875 with story of “handyman mayor” elected unexpectedly.
Lilah has a preliminary budget of $14,000 planned.
Board agreed to hire a local “coordinator” for the show for a price of $2,000. Jody will approach
Rick Cole regarding this.
Jody will write an article in soon upcoming Brainerd dispatch regarding the show this year.
Need volunteers to obtain business sponsors for the programs.
Mailing will go out to ~1,200 businesses, etc. from the chamber of commerce list to elicit
support for this years show at different giving levels.
Auditions are set for May 16 &
18 at Park Methodist church from
Jill coordinating booth at C & I show and has enough people to man the booth.
Board agreed being in the Brainerd parade would be great promotion for the show. Train would be nice to have if Mike Gage can make sure brakes are fixed and someone else can see to it that it is painted with glossy black paint.
Lee reported that story about the show will be in soon upcoming edition of Lake Country Journal.
